The best days at Moody Publishers are when a new title is dropped on the desk, hot off the press, and the first thing we think is, “This is going to change lives for the Gospel”.
We are excited to be apart of the introduction of the nation wide movement of The Gospel Justice Initiative, a ministry to bring legal justice to the poor.
The Start of the Story
Fox Valley Evangelical Free Church continually sought ways to engage its suburban community with the hope of the gospel and practical assistance. While Pastor Tom Atchison was exploring these opportunities, Attorney Bruce Strom came to him with the idea of starting a legal-aid ministry. Tom told him to put together a plan. Bruce
concluded the plan saying, “The risk is minimal. The only chance for failure is a lack of spiritual commitment. There are many suffering individuals in the Fox Valley who need assistance and will not ordinarily walk through the doors of a church. But if they can receive assistance with their conflicts-legal, financial, or other – then perhaps the seeds of the Gospel can be sown in a very real demonstration of true justice and compassion.”
Administer Justice began meeting at the church in March 2000 and ran as an all-volunteer program out of the church for three years before moving and running full-time in January 2003. Since inception Administer Justice has served over 40,000 low income individuals, serving as a model for other legal aids throughout the country.
